While Rosie has reigned as the official Pajama Factory pet for the last 4 years, Petunia is giving her a run for her money. Petunia spends most days running around in her ‘pajamas’ and sneaking empty water bottles from our office recycling bin! She and Rosie have become great friends and no doubt, you are likely to run into one of them in the courtyard or in the hallways.
It’s hard to believe we’re midway through March but the good news is that we’ve had a few days that hint of warmer weather right around the corner! While we had been focused on outdoor building repairs prior to winter, we’ve recently been busy with construction inside. Our goal finish up our new studios this Spring along with updating the elevator and bringing new community spaces for our tenants. We have already pre-leased a number of the studios and rented out two residential apartments. We are keeping two additional apartments as AirBnBs to provide for short term stays right on the premises (hint hint to friends and family). We have made progress getting the refurbished elevator up and running; Todd Rice, an artist in the building, has been painting the inside of the elevator shaft which should make the ride a bit more interesting! We are also working towards the opening of a new sandwich shop (in the near future). So stay tuned!
Enrollment for our Artist-in-Residence program has opened (details below) as we continue to support this initiative that brings new artists, ideas and inspiration to our community. Please share this link with anyone you know who might be interested air.pajamafactory.net.
Also, we are very excited about a TEDxWilliamsport event being hosted at the Pajama Factory on April 6th. Tickets just sold out and demonstrates how great the interest is for events like this in the future!

SOLD OUT!!! We are excited about the upcoming TEDxWilliamsport planned at the Pajama Factory for Saturday, April 6th. The speakers will include: Tonya Anderson, Regis Bingham, Airneezer Page-Bingham, Lynaugh Bobst, Jeremy Ciliberto, Patrick Cummings, Rachel Farrow, Jay Grandis, Joe Hopkins, Kacie Hopkins, Joanne Landis, Julieanne Steinbacher, and Judith Olinsky.

New Studios Available for Pre-lease
The new studios on the 3rd Floor of building 9 are available for pre-lease and will be completed in the next few months. A pre-lese only requires a security deposit to reserve the space. First & last month’s rent wouldn’t be due until the studio is completed and ready for you to move in. Holiday Market
The Holiday Market this year was the most successful we have ever had with over 70 local artisans, craftsmen, small businesses, live music, special art exhibits and demos, traveling choirs and of course,
Tenants and food an the potluck
Santa! We have never seen so many people join us for this event and we look forward to an even more successful event next year!
The end-of-the-year tenant potluck gathering for the Pajama Factory community included lots of great food and a chance for folks to meet more of their neighbors. It was a great way to end the year and to kick off 2019!
The 8th Annual Blues Bash event (held December 30th each year) was another huge draw to the Pajama Factory this holiday season. Produced by Enduring Star Productions and Pajama Factory, this fundraising concert benefited WXPI 88.5 Community Radio Station (a non-profit located in the building) and raised over $1100 for their ongoing programming. The event featured local talent Stacia Abernatha & Gabe Stillman,plus an Eric Clapton tribute with Sean Farley and David Lynn, Miss Melanie & the Valley Rats from State College, and the headliner, America’s oldest touring blues band, The Nighthawks. We even had a surprise visit and performance from Billy Price, 2016 Blues Music Award Winner and officially recognized and inducted as a Pittsburgh’s Rock ‘n Roll Legend. And a huge thanks to Curt Musheno and WXPI for publicizing the event, leading to increased ticket sales and to our MC of the evening, Rick Mason who also took the great pictures!

New Energy for Fiber Arts at the Pajama Factory
Although we were sad to have Val Beggs move back to Maine last year we are equally excited to have Leslie Smith take over the Fiber Arts Studio, now called ‘The Pajama Factory Sewcial Circle’. Leslie facilitates many classes, for both beginners and experts, which are a great way to meet new people and design challenging pieces. Mark and I were the lucky recipiants of one of her beautiful woven containers which came filled with Christmas cookies during the holidays!
Pajama Factory Artist In Residence Program
Artist-in-Residence at the Pajama Factory
We started the AIR program about 10 years ago and are excited that we are able to continue to support such an important initiative for our arts community. The residency will be from June 7th – August 2nd and include a final exhibition for the community in the Factory Works gallery space. AIR recipients will receive furnished housing, studio space and access to a clay studio, photo lab, woodshop, printmaking studio and fiber arts studio – all available on site.
The deadline for applications is April 15th. You can get more information and apply to the program online at the AIR website.
