Built between 1882 &amp; 1919, it first was the home of Lycoming Rubber\/U.S. Rubber which made footwear until the the 1930s.  In the 1950s Weldon&#8217;s Mfg. Company purchased the building and would become one of the largest PJ factories in the world, with over 600 employees.  In 1979 it closed due to foreign competition.  Later the the building would become Raytown shopping complex, and other parts of the building would become stores, such as Cobblers Shoes &amp; Trebecca Jewelry.  Today the building is known as the Pajama Factory, a small community of artists and businesses and is on the national register of historic places.
